School as Seventh-day Adventist.
Sign
School Sign
The school sign is attractive and clearly identifies the school as Adventist.
Upstate Christian Academy is blessed to have both a beautiful sign that is four feet by eighteen feet long on the front wall of the building. It is clearly visible from the main street and the logo of the Seventh-day Adventist Church identifies it as a Seventh-day Adventist School (see picture above). Recently, as part of the EDGE effort, the logo has been updated with the EDGE logo (see slideshow above). The school also has a smaller sign by the road with the school's name, SDA logo, directional arrow and a great Welcome to all! Our school also has the chance to use sporadically or during special activities the main Church sign, which we feel is a double blessing.

2. Personal spiritual experiences are consistently shared with students because of an intentional school-wide focus.
Friendliness is consistently exhibited by school personnel, pastor, and school board members when working with students. Evidence of this can be seen on the student surveys on our recent evaluation for accreditation. Students said, “The teachers are definitely involved with our spiritual life and academics. The teachers make sure we are in a strong relationship with God.” There is an intentional school-wide focus on sharing personal spiritual stories to help build faith in our students.

Lead Singing during Assembly Time
There are consistent weekly spiritual activities that include:
• Administrator/teacher(s)
• Pastor(s)/other church member(s)
• Student-led activities
• Board members/ parent(s)
Upstate Christian Academy firmly believes Matthew 6:33 which says “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” We have weekly chapels on Friday were the Pastors of all our constituent churches participate. Each pastor has been assigned a specific Friday and lead the worship service for the entire school. During Friday's Assembly we also have prayer warrior day and the students pray for specific requests that have been made, and with each other. Each trimester the students are paired up with another student; they become "Prayer Buddies". This leads to younger and older students sharing during such an important time. Students help lead song service for worship. We have church members and board members who share testimonies as well. We have done street evangelism and passing out tracts to help share the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Carolina Conference Evaluation (November, 2010) Committee commended our school for the strong spiritual atmosphere that they felt at the school. Parents, students, and our constituents testify of this.

Teaching SDA Beliefs/Personal Relationship with Jesus
Mr. Ben Roy and a Science Experiment
There is an intentional plan to:
• Teach the Fundamental Beliefs of the SDA Church.
• Lead the students to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Ensure that students know most of the Fundamental Beliefs of the SDA Church.
Not only does UCA use the Bible textbooks to ensure an overview of SDA doctrines, but we also use the Word of God as a teaching instrument. Every Thursday the upper graders are instructed in a fundamental belief Bible study. Topics such as the State of the Dead, Second Coming of Christ, and the Three Angels Messages are investigated using only scripture. After the Bible Study is given, the students are persuaded to give the same Bible Study to someone they know. This is a powerful tool that has opened up the Word of God in many households. The evaluation committee commended the teachers “for helping students develop a sense of school spirit and love of the Bible.” The younger students are exposed to and taught daily about the importance of having a close relationship with Jesus.

Weeks of Prayer
Spencer Castillo & Pr. Gerry Mobley
5: The school:
• Has at least two weeks of prayer each school year.
• Has baptismal classes planned for students both semesters of the school year.
• Participates and assumes leadership in community service projects at least three times a year.
• Shares faith and extends discipleship to students, parents,
administration, colleagues, others in the community.
• Demonstrates Christ-like behavior with students, parents,
colleagues, constituent members and others.
Upstate Christian Academy has had excellent Weeks of Prayers, including Mr. Ben Roy-the Science Guy, Pastor Kevin Pires, Pastor Nelson Fernandez and Pastor Gerry Mobley (see slide show #1 below). Our weeks of prayer are geared to be a blessing to the students who enjoy the awesome power and love of our Lord, Jesus Christ. One of the two Weeks of Prayers is always assigned to be led and conducted by the students themselves. It is UCA's belief that students must internalize and participate as much as possible for a deep, and meaningful experience. During the 2010-2011 school year, the school held a baptismal class with 10 students making the decision to give their lives to Jesus (see slide show #2 below). During the 2011-2012 school year, one student finished the baptismal class and got baptised. Several other students stated a desire to begin the baptismal class.
Upstate Christian Academy teachers truly love the Lord with all their hearts. Thus, participating and assuming leadership in community services are just part of their lives. Not only do they share what they believe with the students but with everyone around them. And better yet, their lives are open books to anyone about this love for their Lord and Savior.
