Participation in SDA Churches
The school with the local Seventh-day Adventist church(es) has a written plan for systematic participation in Sabbath School programs and divine worship services.
Upstate Christian Academy has four constituent Seventh-day Adventist churches; Greenville English, Greenville Spanish, North Anderson and Clemson. Our school has worked very hard to form the constituency that was formed during the 2010-2011 school year. We are very happy to see such enthusiasm and effort from all constituent churches.
We have a yearly plan in our handbook and school calendar to visit these churches and provide a full church program. This is a day when we worship God with all our hearts, souls, and minds. This student-led service highlights the blessings and importance of Seventh-day Adventist education.
Students are also used as junior deacons/deaconesses, praise and worship leaders, children's story tellers, and other duties on a regular basis in all of our constituent churches. We are proud of our participation in our churches. (please see slide show below)

We have a great relationship with our parents at UCA due in large part to the regular communication. Almost weekly, letters are sent home informing parents about upcoming events and student work. Student progress is communicated by interim reports and parent-teacher conferences, report cards, on the school website and discipline activities forms. There are monthly staff meetings in which items are discussed and input is given by all parties. Newsletters and other announcements are sent home monthly and can be found on our website. Please visit our website to sample one of our newsletters and/or memos that are in English and Spanish for our bilingual constituents. http://www.upstatechristianacademy.org/article/4/news
We encourage parents to come to any of the staff members and talk about whatever issue, good or bad, that may come up. UCA follows the Resolution-Appeal Process in case of any situation that requires serious attention. We also have forms available at any time by each classroom exit door where anyone can express their concern or appreciation.

Our teachers are blessed to be in the Carolina Conference where study groups have been an important practice for many years. The groups meet monthly to share and discuss practical teaching issues, ideas, and concepts. Two times a year we go to the Conference Office and have a full day of inspiring guidance and introduction to new methodologies. It is a pleasure to be in a conference that cares so much about their employees and helps them stay on the cutting edge.
One of our teachers, Michelle Bullard, states:
"Study groups are wonderful for teachers to share their ideas and get support and solutions for problems. I enjoy coming
to my study group each month to share the good and bad that happened in my classroom and to get wonderful ideas for
problems I haven't been able to come up with solutions for. In my study group we also help hold each other accountable for
the new implementations we have begun in our classrooms, plus we always work on fantastic 4Mat lessons together. It is a
wonderful learning experience any time our Study Groups can collaborate together."
Head-Teacher (school years 2010-2011 and 2011-2012), David Pasos, states:
"There are many benefits to my study group here in the Carolina Conference. I would like to take the time to express some of
those benefits to you. I feel that my study group is innovative, creative and most importantly spiritual. The reason I feel my
study group is innovative is because we are always trying to come up with practical and creative ways to help our students learn.
Our leader brings topics that motivate us to better our teaching and we feed off of each other making the ideas better. Having
colleagues that are spiritual is a mighty blessing. Prayer is a major part of our study group. We can be assured that all members
of the group will be praying for each other as we progress through the year. I am confident knowing that I am not alone in this
journey. I have my study group members praying for my success as I pray for them as well."
